Title: Aiba’s puppy

Summary: Aiba Masaki likes to keep his problem to himself which made his lover Sho worry about this topic. What if Sho made him even sadder even though he knew this fact about Aiba?

‘I keep wondering if there is something as the perfect couple, does that thing exists in reality or just in movies and fantasy stories? I don’t know why I think like that now but every time I look at my lovely boyfriend, I only question myself if I am a good person for him or not; he is more than enough for me… I hope I am also to him.’ Sakurai Sho stopped writing in his diary and peeked at his boyfriend who was in the kitchen making sandwich for him.

“Aiba-chan, may I have a cup of beer also?” He said while still peeking there.

“Sure, Sho-chan.” The answer came to him from that kitchen and after a few minutes his sandwich and a glass of beer was in front of him together with a wide smile from his lover who just sat next to him on the sofa in their living room.

Aiba Masaki was only 11 months younger than Sho, he has a very kind and big heart, he likes to show people that he is a happy person, always smiling but behind this is an adult that keeps his problems to himself. Aiba Masaki doesn’t like to bother others a lot with his bothering problem, which is his personality, so his boyfriend has to look carefully and give him some attention to see if he did something wrong. “Sho-chan, let me read that!!” He stole the small notebook from Sho’s hand and was about to open it up. 

“NOO!!! Stop it Masaki.” Sho took the notebook again and hid it from his lover.

“Why don’t you want me to look at what you are writing Sho-chan? Are you cheating on me with someone nicer?” Masaki looked directly at Sho’s eyes.

“Of course not silly, it is just something I want to keep for myself.” Sho took some sips from his beer and looked at the TV, which he just turned on.

“Okay, okay Sho-chan… As you wish.” Aiba rested his back to the sofa and stretched his long legs a little bit. “I trust you if you say you are not cheating.” Aiba was a very trusting person, especially to his lover. He faithfully believes in his words because he thinks that Sho has no reason to lie to him. He also knew that this could hurt him one day, to give his love that much of trust, but he still believes in his partner Sho.

“Sho-chan, you know Yamada who lives across the street?” 

“Of course, what’s with him?”

“He got a small puppy last Friday, I saw him with his puppy yesterday.” The younger man talked what was inside of him and just looked at his sandwich, which was in his hand.

“And?” Sho looked at his lover and tried to read his facial expression carefully. 

“Nothing, that is the end of the story.” Masaki bit a little bit from his sandwich and looked at the TV silently. Sho knew what was going on in his boyfriend’s mind, he knew how much this person loves animals and wants to own a puppy but he didn’t let him have one.

“No, it is not. Talk to me Masaki!” Sho gets closer to his partner and touches his chin to make him look at him.

“I want one, you know that already.” Aiba said these few words and kept looking at his sandwich. 

“I know and I am sorry that I didn’t allow you to have one, I am just worried about you and would also be worried about the little puppy.” He wanted to make the atmosphere lighter by kissing his partner’s forehead and put Aiba’s head on his own chest. “You understand what I mean?” The other guy just nodded his head slowly in his lover’s chest.

“Hey, don’t be like that now.” Sho felt guilty for what he did. “You have some lung problem sweetheart.” He explained.

“I know, just forget about it.” Aiba rose up and started to collect the empty dishes and cups then went directly to the kitchen. He kept sighing there and his mind was just full of some pictures of him having a little puppy to raise because he really wants to have a pet. He walked through the living room where his boyfriend was and then went forward to their bedroom. “I am going to sleep because I am tired, good night.” Aiba closed the door behind him and just lay down on their fluffy bed.

“I know that I will never have one.” He got his stuffed dog near his chest and held it. “I know he loves me but I would be really fine with a puppy.” The younger man talked to himself and then tried his best to sleep for now. 

In the living room there was another heart crushing, the one inside Sho’s chest. He really wants to give him what he wants but he doesn’t want to risk his lover’s health. Sho laid his head on the sofa and rubbed his eyes slowly, he was too tired after this long day and decided to let Aiba have his personal space tonight.

He got up and tried to slowly open their bedroom’s door to get something to cover himself with since he decided to sleep on the sofa tonight. He looked at his lover holding his stuffed animal tightly. He can’t resist seeing something as cute as his partner like this and get closer to him. “You know I love you Masaki.” He printed a soft and kind kiss on the sleeping figure’s forehead and grabbed a small blanket that they had somewhere in their bedroom and was about to go out to the living room when his lover mumbled while sleeping. 

“Let me play with your puppy a little bit Yamada-san, please.” The sleeping guy just hugged his stuffed dog tighter than before.

Sho couldn’t stand this anymore and ran to the living room as fast as he could. What he just saw and heard broke his heart to small pieces; he was too harsh on his lover. Now he felt noting but guilt. He can’t believe what he was doing, hurting his partner without even knowing. “And I call myself giving attention to him? What a bad boyfriend I am.” He murmurs to himself softly and breaks down on the sofa, still stunning while looking at the ceiling above him. 

Sakurai Sho didn’t know how and when he fell asleep. His mind was working the whole night and his heart still ached inside. He got his head up and sat on the same sofa he was sleeping on. “Ah, it is ten o’clock already.” Just then he noticed a small piece of paper on the table in front of him 

‘Sho-chan, I am off to work, good luck with your writing today.’ It was a note from Masaki and next to it there was a dish with small toast bread with butter. It hit him so hard, although he made his boyfriend so sad, Aiba still thought about him, about his food and work.

Sho couldn’t take it anymore at all, grabbed his phone and dialed some number. After a few ringing they picked up the line and Sho started to talk. He only wanted to check something with someone. After that he took a quick shower and ran out of their apartment to do some businesses.

After some hours, Aiba returned back from his work. He was working in a pastry shop. He opened the door and said ‘I am home’ but no one answered him. The home was so dark and that meant there was no one at home. He turned the light on and slowly walked inside of their living room while softly calling Sho’s name but there was no sign of anyone there. While walking toward their bedroom his feet touched something that wasn’t there before. “What is that?” Aiba touched the huge box that was in front of him and moved in a circle around it. “Who placed that here? Sho-chan!!” He called out again for his boyfriend thinking he might be in the bathroom or something but only silence answered him.  
 
Suddenly there was a tiny knock inside that box and it was moving a little bit. “Wah… What is that?!!” Aiba poked the box before it suddenly opened from the top and a figure with a fur jumped out from it. 

“Surprise!!!!” That figure shouted.

“Oh my God, that is you Sho-chan??” Aiba opened his eyes widely when he saw his lover wearing a dog costume. “What are you doing!! Ehhhh, you even have a tail and ear!!” Aiba said so excited while circling around Sho the dog and touched his tail. 

“Yes I am full option wuff wuff.” Sho sat down like a real puppy and said, “I am your puppy, you can name me.” 

“Are you serious Sho-chan?? You want to be my puppy? You are my boyfriend!!” Aiba still stared at his lover who pretended to be his dog now. 

“I am not cute enough?” Sho pouted and looked to the floor. 

“You are so cute!! But that was a huge surprise for me!” Aiba kneeled down and captured the dog-guy’s lips with his and started to kiss him lovingly until both of them heard the door ring. “Who is that, coming at this very moment?” Aiba pouted after they stopped the kiss. 

“Go and check master.” Sho said. 

“Now I am your master?” Aiba looked at Sho and then to the door that was still ringing. “We will talk about that after I get the door.” Aiba walked fast to the door while Sho just rose up and sat on the sofa.

There were two guys in front of the door with a little basket. First one was shorter than the other with sleepy eyes and the taller one with a mole above his upper lip. “Are you master Aiba Masaki? We have a delivery for you.” The shorter one said while holding hands with the other guy. 

Aiba looked at both of them and said, “Y-yes, I am Aiba Masaki. From who is it?” 

“Well sir, that person didn’t leave his name, he just told us to deliver this basket to Aiba Masaki.” Aiba looked confused but he still took the basket, signed some paper, then thanked the guys and closed the door behind him.

“What is-” Before he even completed his sentence a tiny bark sound was coming from the basket. “OH MY GOD!!” He un-wrapped the top of the basket and his eyes came across with a pair of tiny, cute eyes inside the basket. “It is a puppy!!!! Alive and real one!” He looked immediately at Sho. “Is that…?” 

“Yes, it is a puppy from me, I asked your doctor and…” Sho couldn’t complete his sentence because he was immediately stuffed in between Aiba arms and he could feel some cold liquid across his cheeks. “Thank you Sho-chan!!”

“Are you crying?” Sho asked after they broke the hug. 

“A little.” Aiba answered.

“You don’t have to, the doctor didn’t mind you having a puppy so I bought you one.” Sho wiped his boyfriend’s tears and kissed his forehead.

“You are the best boyfriend I could have!” Aiba said but a tiny bark sound interrupted them. Aiba looked toward the dog and lifted him up. He must be hungry. The little puppy barked harder and kept looking at Sho. “Sho-chan, maybe he thinks you are his mommy.” Aiba laughed hard and pointed at what Sho was wearing. 

“Or he is just hungry.” Sho pouted and walked to the kitchen to get some milk for the puppy.

Aiba put the puppy down and walked after Sho to the kitchen and hugged him from behind. “I really love you Sho-chan.” Aiba swung their bodies together a little bit while Sho was pouring the milk. “I love you too, Masaki.” 

“By the way Sho, I will call my puppy Sakura!” Aiba said, then claimed the other man’s lips and started to suck on them a little bit, marking the start of a long night for the couple since Aiba was too excited about his new puppy.
